The Door County Community Foundation, The Raibrook Foundation, and United Way of Door County are pleased to present the latest in their Non-Profit Education Series. This session will cover two topics, of equal importance to any non-profit organization - Board Governance and Special Events. This session is open to all board members and staff members of local nonprofit organizations.

Governance topics to be covered include: board basics, board member recruitment and retention, the role of the board, expectations of board members, and how to run an effective meeting. Our guest speaker for this portion of the morning is Frank Maxwell. Frank is a retired minister with extensive board experience from both the staff and board member perspectives. Currently he is active with the Door County Community Foundation and Door Tran, Inc., to name a few.
Amy Kohnle, from the United Way of Door County, will lead a round table discussion on special events. Topics to be covered include: the pros and cons of special events, how they fit into your year round public relations and the fundraising plans, and how to plan your next special event. As this is a roundtable discussion, please bring your questions and ideas with you to share.
